Rhizomatous tall fescue (RTF)

Home > RTF > Rhizomatous tall fescue
Rhizomatous tall fescue (RTF), bred by Barenbrug Research, is a new generation of tall fescue, which unlike other tall fescues produces rhizomes. The rhizome sends a shoot up to the soil surface while extending new roots downward, forming new plant growth.

This unique rhizomatous growth habit produces high tensile strength, fast establishment of turf and rapid recovery.

RTF RootsRTF turf has excellent wear tolerance, similar to perennial ryegrass. It is shade, salt and frost tolerant and will withstand both waterlogging and drought conditions. It has consistent and excellent colour throughout the summer and is suitable for most soil types.

The rhizomatous growth habit of RTF
helps produce a self-repairing turf.
